A loss to the world |
February 14, 2009 |
(Senior in college)
Marcus was one of the best personalities I've ever met, his departure is truly a loss to the world. I was fortunate to have him as my junior in college, he was a well-rounded student, good in academics and also active in any events organised in our department. I give my condolences to his family, especially to David.

I am lighting a candle for you my friend |
February 14, 2009 |
Dear Markus,
this really is hard to understand. Your calm and sensible personality is still very clear in my mind and I do not find it difficult to recall your friendly manner of treating the people around you, including me. I was happy to meet you through two conferences in Essex University and it was always with a smile that we met during last year.
I will light a candle in your beautiful memory Marcus, and I will keep you in my heart for all the times to come.
Yours fondly,
Sanna

Markus is in heaven! He will be sorely missed. I remember him as a gentle, kind , faithful student who was a person who was an encourager.
I have a lovely photo of him in my album with my colleagues from Friends International at his graduation last year.
See you in heaven dear Marcus...
Praying for your dear family......Joan

Life is Precious |

Markus' untimely passing reminds us all that life is short, and one never knows when it will end. It may be tomorrow, or it may be in ten years' time, or twenty.
Live a balanced life — learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.

farewell Markus - I will see you again |
February 14, 2009 |
(friend, former pastor)
I am greatly saddened by the sudden news of Markus' passing away. I was in shock for a while and only today this morning was I able to cry.
You will be missed for so many reasons. My one consolation is that I will see you again one day when my time on this earth is up. Farewell Markus but I will surely see you again

(Uni Essex friend)
I first heard about the news when I logged into facebook.I was really hoping that it wasnt true.
Suddenly I remembered the times when we were in Essex->the trip that the 4 of us took and how we watched the Eurofinals in uni last year.
You are one of the most kind and caring person I've ever known. You were unassuming and never judged other people. You were dedicated to causes that you believed in as well as helped to contribute for the betterment of society.I couldnt be more prouder to have known a friend like you.
Your departure will be really really missed by everyone who was lucky to have you present in their lives.
Rest In Peace my friend

(friend at i-bridge camp)
First time I met Markus at I-bridge camp, I really felt like I knew him all my life.
Maybe it was how friendly and warm and how easy it was to talk to him. I bet most would agree his smile was disarming.
The more I talked and knew him, from those brief few days, I saw what a brilliant and inquisitive person he was and more importantly, how much enthusiasm he had in life. He was also skilled in music and sports. What a guy.
Such passion for what he believed in, God and politics and certain causes, was what drew me to admire him.
I pray I'd never forget him, his spirit.
Goodbye Markus. Would have loved so much to have known you better.

Hey Markus |
February 14, 2009 |
It's been awhile. Too long in fact, considering how closely we used to work together during our CF days. I've been staring at my screen for the longest time struggling to figure out the best way to describe the friend and brother in Christ that you were to me. Then I read some of the tributes left by the many people whose lives you've touched in some way or another throughout your lifetime and realized that I don't need to find the perfect way to describe who you were. Memories just don't translate as well onto paper. In any case, you've always been a better writer than me. :) I know this for sure because I distinctly remember us occasionally trading our English essays after class just for the fun of it. Probably also because we were slightly geeky.
Most if not all of my memories of you stem back to our CF days because it was really during those 2 years that I got to know you beyond that of an acquaintance. Hearing the news of your passing naturally caused all the memories of yesteryear to come flooding back, bringing with it much regret at not having kept in touch much after we left good ol' SMDU. I took for granted the fact that you live barely 10 minutes away and assumed that we would at some point catch up over drinks with mutual friends.
For the many chats we've had about God, Malaysia, life and living. For the many encouraging notes and words. For believing in me as I struggled to take on the role of secretary in the beginning knowing that I was essentially quite new to CF compared to the rest of you. For being my go-to guy everytime I couldn't figure out the chords for that new song. I could go on.
Despite not having talked to you in awhile, I can safely say having read some of the tributes that you haven't really changed. You're basically the same guy you were to me, only multiplied many times over in the lives of the many young people you've worked with and friends you've come into contact with over the years.
You impacted and influenced my life in those 2 short years more than you'll ever know. Things happen in life that we will never be able to comprehend with our human minds and I guess this is one of them. The only one who sees the big picture right now is the One whom you spent your life here loving and serving wholeheartedly. The One whom I know you're happily with now. I pray that your family and those close to you will find peace in that during this time, hard as it may be.

A great football player |
February 14, 2009 |
I knew Markus back in Form 6 in which I was introduced to him by a friend who plays football together. We played futsal a couple of times. And I have to tell you that Markus has the quickest feet I ever played with at that time. His side steps and his step overs are as quick as Cristiano Ronaldo's. He's an extremely friendly person and he never gets mad easily especially when you tackled hard on him. It's been a while since I last met Markus and may he rest in peace. My condolences to his family.

(uni friend)
I first met you during an open mike night in mondo november '05
I'd only just started work at the time, though this was not my first shift.
I was intrigued by the fact that you showed up early, and asked if it was possible to sound-check. I couldn't say no and we spend a good 20 minutes together making sure the sound was just the way you wanted.
After clocking out, I came back later that evening at the time you told me you were going to play.
After seeing me come in and finishing your song, you thanked me publicly for helping you earlier that evening and then proceded with your excellent playlist...
This first meeting, as I was to later find out through our crossed pathes through uni, was to be a true picture of you: you had an unshakeable in the best from everyone, an appreciation of all the little things in life, embraceing them all with an everlasting smile. Your selflessness and humility impressed at uni, I am one of them.
May the Lord grant you Peace, and may He comfort your loved ones in their loss.
Trust that your memory will always be cherished among those that knew you, even just a little.

(friend n ukec colleague )
In his life, he inspired countless of us. With his nonchalant demeanour yet passionate idealism he made us see life as it should be, and instilled in many a sense of duty for our fellow man.
And in his passing away, he still manages to inspire. That's Markus for you.. We should not let his ideals die away, we should make it our own. Markus will live through us from now on..
I shall miss his cheeky smile that he flashes ever so generously :)

(Classmate for 2 years at HELP College)
I know Markus less than half of how much I'd like to and despite that, I can tell that he has so much left to accomplish in this world. I have to say that our brief meetings were always very intellectual and fun. Markus was, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the very few people whom we meet in life to inspire us to go to great lengths to do good. I strongly believe that he has offered a lot to us with his generosity and with just his presence, we feel that we could learn more.
As his passing was so sudden and unexpected for many, I wish for his loved ones and close peers whom remain are able to find the strength and comfort in themselves to believe that he is in a better place now.
Rest in peace, mate. You were one hell of a funny guy.

A meaningful life |
February 14, 2009 |
A short life you may have lived, yet it is a life with more meaning than what most of us could have found in a lifetime. You are a person who finds joy in helping others. A person who expects nothing in return for your kindness. You work so hard to make the life of the unfortunate more fortunate. Because of that, their world was a better place and hopefully one day, it will become the world you wished for it to be. I will miss you Markus, we all will.

It was very unexpected and at such a young age. Medical school prepares medical students to deal with death but it doesn't prepare you to deal with the death of a friend... Take care and rest in peace. *IMHO after a research i've done, from medical POV, Sudden Unexpected Death Syndrome (SUDS)

A life that counted |
February 14, 2009 |
Markus, I hope that as you now are back home you are as happy as happy can be. You thought me so much about putting your money where your mouth is and actually doing something which counted with your life. You were neither afraid to stand up for your country and your faith and your selfless deeds all contributed to who are you are as a person. You are such an inspiration and I can only pray that the rest of us will take a page out of your book and learn to make our lives worth something, because your life certainly did. RIP.

Goodbye my dear friend |
February 14, 2009 |
I am still in shock after hearing the news from my parents. All I know is that the first thing that came to my mind were flashbacks of youth days : camps, planning and organising, caroling, committee retreats ... Those were memories that will always be dear to my heart. You were always the big brother. At first, I thought you were always too serious. Sometimes, I may have even been a little scared of you. But after getting to know you better through serving together, I see this amazing person who has a big big heart for God's people. And your passion in the things you believe in, it just spreads and inspire others. Thank you for your great leadership and friendship. Thank you for your wisdom and your words of encouragement all those times. My deepest and sincere condolences to Markus's family. I am sorry that I cannot be physically present to give my support during this time. Rest in peace Markus. Love, Melanie

Farewell, my friend... |
February 14, 2009 |
(RBS roommate & friend)
I am still numb from what happened for the past 15 hours...
I just can't believe that you're gone..
I've just been thinking and reminiscing about the time we spent together;
the chats Jun Ming and I had with you (which truly inspired me),
the guitaring sessions we had, the foorball games we had in which you just toyed around us, and most importantly the friendship you shared with us. I know this is gonna sound cheesy, but I really do think you're the nicest guy I've ever known .
I could see clearly the passion you had for Christ, the heart to help and impact the people around you, and the responsibility you had on your shoulders to do something for the nation.
I will deeply miss you, Markus.
Farewell, my friend...

Dedicated to Markus Ng...
A beautiful hymn by Frances J. Crosby
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast;
There by His love o’ershaded,
Sweetly my soul shall rest.
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe from corroding care,
Safe from the world’s temptations;
Sin cannot harm me there.
Free from the blight of sorrow,
Free from my doubts and fears;
Only a few more trials,
Only a few more tears!

Markus,
I don't even know where to begin to express how much the world will miss you. I knew from the moment I first met you that you were a true kind spirit, the kind of man who would go on to do great things and offer great help to the world.
Throughout our years working together on committees for the Government Dept at Essex, you always had a kind word and a smile for me. One of the few who remembered my name after just our first meeting, and I remembered yours, which is also rare! :-P
You were a light, Markus. I hope you are still entertaining others with your music and grace at your place with the Father.

Dear Friend,
Although we had such a fraction of time playing football together during PE session during high school, there was something different about you among others.
I'm pretty sure for all of us who had crossed path with you will remember you in heart always.

So long my friend, we will see you on the other side of the rainbow with God.

Dear Markus,
You will always be remembered. Eventhough I last seen you a year back, you were always in my mind. Surprisingly lately I thought wanna find you for yumcha session since you are back. But now the chance is gone.
I still remember you fetch me to college and church every now and then. You are great football player. A great sportsman I would say. A great writer and musician too. An all rounder!
I cherish the time we had together. You are great person to be with.
May you rest in peace.
